Sound Design

Starting my career as a filmmaker I began to fall in love with the editing process and in particular the elements of Sound Design. Here are a few of my completed projects. Click the picture to watch the video!

Terrible Fate          Re-Sound Design

Being a fan of the Zelda series, I was excited to be able to put my sound design chops to this short film and work on it as if it was my own. Working with FL Studio in tandem with foley art was the key to creating a realistic world with fantasy elements.

Stranger Things
Re-Sound Design

One of my favorite television series is "Stranger Things" and watching this scene I couldn't help but notice all the creative uses of the fighting sounds. Wanting to work extensively on the foley art, I was able to make over half of the sounds in this redesign. I wanted the fight to seem realistic but have the audible punch of sound design lifting the scene.

The Protector

Collaborating with the animation students at Central Michigan University was a great opportunity. Their department is separate from the cinematic arts department and it was great to work with a team that thought differently than what I was used to. I was able to help with the weight of this short film by researching and playing around with multiple animal sounds to get the 'horrifying' loveable protector.

Sweet Silkie

Another great short piece by the animation department at CMU. It was a great experience making music with my mandolin and FL Studio to fit the scene. The mixing of the natural sounds with some foley was essential for the smaller scenes and the mixing of western sounds added a punch to the more dramatic ones.

The Arcade Showdown

This animation piece called for a lot of character and that essential "gaming infomercial" sound. It was great to make music to fit the whole piece, including the video game snippits of varying styles.

Scion Car Commercial  Re-Sound Design

This was the first major project as a student that I did for sound design. It was a great opportunity to be able to review a sound effects library and make visual sounds with what was available in ordinary sounds. Working with the music I was able to create motion and energy with the visuals.
